Pastor Appreciation Day

Sun, October 8, 12:00am

Pastor Appreciation Day is observed on the second Sunday in October each year. It is a special day dedicated to recognizing and honoring church pastors. The history of this day goes back to 1992 when it was originally known as Clergy Appreciation Day. The idea of dedicating one specific day to pay tribute to pastors came from the concept of Clergy Appreciation Month, which has been observed in October since 1923. The month recognizes the contributions and services of pastors, priests, reverends, ministers, and all other clergymen. The call to honor church leaders’ contributions goes back to the time of Apostle Paul, who founded many of the first Christian churches. He emphasized the importance of honoring those whose work is preaching and teaching and encouraged congregations to give double honor to the elders who managed the affairs of the church3.
